INSTRUCTOR SCRIPT:
Advertised prices and offers must include the dates during which the offer is valid. If you run a “weekend sale” advertisement, the ad should specify the dates of the sale — for example, “Prices valid May 2-3, 2026 only.” If you don’t include an expiration date, the advertised price or offer may be considered valid indefinitely, which means a customer could walk into your dealership weeks later and demand the advertised price.
Time-limited offers create urgency, which is fine as long as the offer is genuine. What you cannot do is run a perpetual “this weekend only” sale — advertising the same “limited time” offer week after week is deceptive. DMV monitors for this pattern. If your “sale prices” are the same every week, they’re not sale prices; they’re your regular prices — and advertising them as “sale” prices is misleading.
